Edu seals double deal amid Declan Rice and Moussa Diaby move with £300m boost

Arsenal are gearing up for a huge summer transfer window ahead, aiming to close the gap to Manchester City in terms of their squad quality. With the addition of Champions League football thrown in the mix, Mikel Arteta will need all the help he can get to build a team that can challenge across all competitions.

A number of options have been linked to cover some problem areas, one of which being the midfield ranks. football.london understands that Declan Rice is the top option for the Gunners going into the summer, while the likes of Moises Caicedo and Mason Mount continue to be linked with a switch.

The forward ranks could see some changes too, with the need for another option to complement Bukayo Saka on the right. Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby has been predominantly linked over the past few windows and could be a name in the frame yet again, while rumours swirl over a possible move for Raphinha, having missed out on him to Barcelona last summer.

With the transfer expenditure in the past few seasons toppling the hundreds of millions, a return to the Champions League will help balance the books, but some potential exits from the squad could help raise some funds even further. Luckily for Edu Gaspar, he already has two deals in the plan to do exactly that.

One of those is for Pablo Mari, who has spent the season on loan with Serie A side Monza and is set to join them permanently for £6million at the end of the season. Then there’s Charlie Patino, who is reported to be keen on a move away to guarantee first team football.

The youngster could fetch a decent transfer price and the double deal could give some extra funds to utilise, though there’s a host of other names that may be allowed to leave to take that war chest even further.
