Arsenal and Newcastle United are the latest clubs to consider a transfer for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt.
Brandt has long been regarded by English clubs and has admirers in European football, including Jurgen Klopp.
However, The Mirror reported today that Arsenal and Newcastle are now impressed with Brandt’s performance against the Magpies in midweek.
Brandt, 27, joined Dortmund for about £22 million and is considered a crucial player for the German club. He signed a new contract until 2026, but The Mirror believes that this will not deter Arsenal from making an offer.
The Gunners are trying to bolster their team in the January transfer window. Mikel Arteta’s squad is back among the Premier League championship contenders after a strong start to the season.
Arsenal is interested in signing Dortmund’s Julian Brandt.
It’s no surprise that Arsenal is seeking for new players as they look to dethrone Manchester City at the top of the standings.
They were so close last year, but they eventually drifted away. Following a successful summer of transfers, Arteta and Edu will be considering how they might avoid a repeat performance this year.
January is always a pricey month, and with reports here stating Dortmund will not trade Brandt, it could be a hard deal to do.
However, there is no harm in approaching these players, because at the end of the day, these types of ‘great’ players are what the best teams require.
Arsenal must ensure that they are still chasing things in March and April this time. Signing someone like Brandt may be the best way to ensure that occurs.
