“He will end up costing Arsenal the title, but unfortunately Arteta does not want to drop him to the bench”- Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand blasts Arsenal’s £30 million star after a poor performance against Chelsea this evening.
Ferdinand criticizes Arsenal’s £30 million star after his performance against Chelsea.
Ferdinand has attacked Arsenal midfielder David Raya after his performance against Chelsea on Saturday, claiming that he will cost the Gunners the title this season.
After watching the Spaniard get lobbed by Mykhaylo Mudryk for the Blues’ second goal at Stamford Bridge, he posted on his X.
David Raya has not got the start to his Arsenal career that Mikel Arteta would have preferred. Many people were surprised when the Gunners pursued a deal, eventually agreeing to a loan move with an option to buy that may cost Arsenal £30 million.
After the first international break, Raya surpassed Aaron Ramsdale to take the top spot. Unfortunately, he has never adequately justified that judgment since.
Arsenal suffers as a result of David Raya’s blunder.
Raya has made some outstanding saves. But he hasn’t always come across as convincing. And if Arteta was thinking about bringing Ramsdale back in, Saturday’s performance might change his mind.
Raya was in no-man’s land as Mudryk’s probable cross went all the way in at the far post for Chelsea’s second goal.
As a result, Richard Keys slammed the 28-year-old on social media, alleging that Arsenal cannot win the Premier League with him…
Aaron Ramsdale must be pondering something.
Soon after, Raya was nearly penalized for another blunder. He passed the ball to Cole Palmer on the outskirts of his own box. And he had to scramble over to stop the forward from scoring again.
Raya’s footwork may be superior to Ramsdale’s. But you have to wonder if the difference between the two was great enough to make the whole thing worthwhile.
Raya certainly brought something that Ramsdale lacked, according to Arteta. However, based on existing information, the Gunners’ manager took an unwarranted risk that has severely backfired.
