Raya, brought in on a season-long loan from Brentford to enhance Mikel Arteta’s goalkeeper options, has struggled with frequent errors, prompting criticism from Carragher. Ian Wright supported Carragher’s choice, agreeing that the goalkeepers at Arsenal and United have not lived up to expectations.
During the 4-3 win against Luton Town on Tuesday, Raya committed two errors leading to goals, further highlighting his nervy performances. The Spaniard has featured in 15 games across all competitions for Arsenal, recording seven clean sheets and conceding 13 goals, averaging 0.9 goals conceded per game.

Statistically, the goalkeepers have similar save percentages and pass accuracies, but Raya has been notably error-prone, making three errors leading to goals compared to Ramsdale’s clean record.
Despite this, Arteta has continued to show faith in Raya as the primary goalkeeper.
