“I’d love playing for Arsenal” – £33m international Superstar cries out for a move to Emirate stadium as player turns down offer from Juventus, Newcastle and Liverpool

Newcastle United are willing to trigger Gabri Veiga’s £33 million release clause but the La Liga starlet would prefer to join Premier League leaders Arsenal instead.

That is according to Mundo Deportivo, interest in one of Europe’s breakthrough talents rising with every surging run, every well-taken finish.

In fact, Celta Vigo could run a Veiga-themed Goal of the Season competition in May. Such has been the variety and the quality of the 20-year-old’s strikes over the last six months or so.

There’s been long-range thumpers. Intuitive chips. Edge-of-the-box thunderbolts. A classy curling finish during Celta’s 3-1 win away at Espanyol prior to the international break was his ninth of the season already. No midfielder in La Liga has more.

And, given Arsenal’s proud history when it comes to wonderfully-talented attacking midfielders, Spain U21 international Veiga would be a fitting addition to a side who have already given us Robert Pires, Cesc Fabregas and Martin Odegaard.

Mundo Deportivo, meanwhile, believe that Veiga would opt for Arsenal ahead of the likes of Newcastle United, Liverpool and potentially Real Madrid too. The Gunners, coached by fellow Spaniard Mikel Arteta, look well-suited to getting the best out of Veiga due to their attacking, free-flowing, possession-heavy style.

Veiga would add further depth to a side already boasting Odegaard, Fabio Vieira and a returning Emile Smith Rowe.

Newcastle United, per AS, are willing to not only trigger the £33 million release clause in Veiga’s contract, but could also offer him a cool £85,000-a-week at St James’ Park.

Celta Vigo president Carlos Mourino, without naming names, admits that four of the Premier League’s top ten teams are enquiring about the availability of a man the Spaniard’s may have no choice but to cash in on, given the affordable nature of that release clause.

“We do not want to sell Gabri Veiga,” an honest Mourino tells Mundo Deportivo. “But he will be bought from us. And there, we cannot do anything (to stop him leaving).
