“It’s over for us, Arsenal will WIN the league”- HUGE BLOW as Pep Guardiola just confirmed that sensational Man City’s superstar suffers a HUGE injury damage after seriously injuring his ankle in their Champions League last night- Player is set to miss Arsenal clash next month alongside with Kevin De Bruyne
Pep Guardiola admits Man City playmaker will miss time against Arsenal.
The Portuguese international was forced off early against Red Star Belgrade, adding to Pep Guardiola’s absence list.
Manchester City appear to be without Bernardo Silva for the foreseeable future, as a crucial clash with Arsenal looms.
The Portuguese playmaker was taken off before halftime of Tuesday’s 3-1 Champions League comeback triumph over Red Star Belgrade in Group B.
The 29-year-old Silva looked visibly disappointed as he trudged off to be replaced by summer signing Jeremy Doku, with holders City responding to Osman Bukari’s shock opening goal for the Serbian giants with a second-half Julian Alvarez brace and Rodri’s stylish strike to begin their title defence with a dominant home victory.
City manager Pep Guardiola revealed following Tuesday’s European opener at the Etihad Stadium that Silva would miss the “next games” due to an unidentified injury, with the Premier League champions set to visit Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.
They then go to Newcastle in the third round of the Carabao Cup before visiting Wolves and RB Leipzig before hosting title rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on October 8, just before the second international break of the season.
“He [Silva] didn’t say anything at the end,” Guardiola said, according to reporters. “I haven’t spoken with the doctors, but he won’t be able to play in the next few games.”
City’s ominous 100 percent start to the season, in which they have won all six games in all competitions, has not been without significant difficulties on the injury front, with Kevin De Bruyne likely to miss the remainder of the calendar year due to a serious hamstring ailment that necessitated surgery.
Guardiola has also been without England defender John Stones since the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal at Wembley in August, as have midfielders Jack Grealish and Mateo Kovacic.
“When we have five important players – really, really important players – injured, it will be difficult to sustain that for a long time,” the manager said of the growing injury list of key players. However, it is what it is.
“We don’t have the salaries and budgets to bring in 55 players.” The clubs would be in pandemonium, and they would go bankrupt. It happens from time to time.”
