Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, would rather buy Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto than Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

As Mikel Arteta aims to win the Premier League title this season, Arsenal may be limited to only one major signing in January.

This is according to Football Transfers, who believe that Arsenal is now increasing its interest in signing Pedro Neto.

The Gunners entered the international break after a key 1-0 win against title rivals Manchester City.

Arteta will be expecting to make an impact when Premier League activity resumes, but he may already be looking ahead to the January transfer market.

Mikel Arteta wants Pedro Neto to join Arsenal.

According to Football Transfers, Arteta has been warned that there is a limited budget for January and that he may only be able to make one marquee signing.

Some players may go to help the budget, but Arteta may now have to choose between Pedro Neto and Ivan Toney.

Arsenal are interested in both players, but Arteta is said to prefer signing Neto if given the choice.

The idea is that the Portuguese star might assist relieve the pressure on Arsenal’s right winger Bukayo Saka.

Saka is clearly playing too many games at the present, and his latest injury worries may have helped Arteta realize that another quality winger is required.

Neto can play on either flank, which may lead Arteta to choose him above Toney as Arsenal’s priority January target.

Would the Wolves sell Neto in January?
Neto has been outstanding this season, with one goal and five assists in the first few weeks of the Premier League season.

Neto has been so dangerous this season that analyst Leon Osman has praised him as ‘terrific’ for causing defenders so many issues.

Arsenal would undoubtedly prefer to get Neto, but convincing Wolves to sell in the middle of the season appears difficult.

Wolves will undoubtedly require Neto to ensure their Premier League status, and even if Arsenal throw money at them in January, there is no certainty that a deal will be completed.
