“I hate that he plays for Arsenal, because Arsenal is a small team compared to Spurs” – James Maddison reveals the one Gunners player he wishes was at Spurs

England international James Maddison recently shared his admiration for a key player at Arsenal, expressing his wish that the player was part of the Tottenham Hotspur squad.

Maddison, who has been a standout performer for Spurs under manager Ange Postecoglou, joined the team from Leicester City during the summer transfer window.

Despite Tottenham’s promising start under Postecoglou, the team experienced a dip in form due to multiple injuries, leading to losses against Chelsea, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Aston Villa.

Although they rebounded with a commendable 3-3 draw against Manchester City, putting them back on track, Spurs currently sit in fifth place, while rivals Arsenal lead the Premier League table.

In a conversation with former goalkeeper Ben Foster, Maddison expressed envy for a certain Arsenal midfielder, Declan Rice, acknowledging his technical prowess and exceptional ability with low-cut passes.

Maddison admitted, “He’s got everything. He is a joke when it comes to low-cut passes. I think he’s a top, top player. I hate that he plays for Arsenal.”

Rice has been a crucial part of Arsenal’s success this season, contributing to their current second-place standing. Having started every game, the 24-year-old midfielder has scored two goals and provided one assist.

Maddison also showered praise on another midfield talent, Jude Bellingham, who, like Rice, is part of the England national team.

Describing himself as Bellingham’s biggest fan, Maddison highlighted Bellingham’s love for the game and impressive mentality.

“He’s got a 30-year-old mentality of a Premier League veteran who’s played 600 league games… the way he carries himself and the way he speaks, it’s of the highest order,” Maddison remarked about the Real Madrid star.
