“He was the only player on the pitch that had 92% pass accuracy, he won the most duels and had the most touches while also contributing majorly in the attack and defence”- Thierry Henry named one Arsenal star that was the best player on the pitch last night

“He was the only player on the pitch with 92% pass accuracy, he won the most duels and had the most touches while also contributing significantly in attack and defense,” Thierry Henry said of one Arsenal star who was crowned the best player on the pitch last night.

Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus delivered an outstanding effort in the club’s 2-1 Champions League group stage triumph over Sevilla Friday night.

Last weekend, the Gunners were defeated on the road by Chelsea. They managed a 2-2 draw despite being outplayed for the entire of the game.

Against Sevilla, the game was evenly matched, and Jesus’ magnificent goal contributions made the difference for the club in either half.

Arsenal took the lead just before halftime thanks to a superb Cruyff turn from Jesus in his box, which set up Gabriel Martinelli for a goal.

Martinelli’s speed forced Sevilla’s defenders to abandon the game. He displayed great poise by around the goalkeeper and finishing into an empty net.

Shortly after the break, a brilliant moment from Jesus gave the Gunners a two-goal advantage.

The Brazil international was able to cut inside from the left flank and scored with a curling attempt into Orjan Nyland’s top right corner.

Sevilla cut the lead in half with a stunning header from Nemanja Gudelj in the 58th minute, but Arsenal held on for the win.

David Raya had a stressful moment in stoppage time when his punch almost turned into an own goal, but the Gunners came out on top.

In our judgment, Jesus was the standout performer by a wide margin. Apart from his goal and assist, he completed 92% of his passes. He made three crucial passes and won four duels.

The victory propels Arsenal to the top of their Champions League group. If Lens beats PSV, they will qualify for the round of 16 if they beat Sevilla at home.

Meanwhile, wins over Sevilla and Lens in the next two games would secure first place.
