I have tried my best to make Him happy here at Old Trafford but it seems things are not going well with Him’: Erik Ten Hag have finally made up his mind to let £50m key player leave in January after falling out of place with Ten Hag

Marseille is reportedly eyeing a move for Manchester United’s centre-back, Raphael Varane, in the upcoming January transfer window. Varane, who joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid in the summer of 2021, has been a key player, making 75 appearances and contributing to their EFL Cup success in the 2022-23 season.

The 30-year-old, who retired from international football in March 2023 after being a part of France’s World Cup-winning team in 2018, is now on Marseille’s radar, according to French news outlet Foot01. Under the management of Gennaro Gattuso, Marseille aims to climb back up the Ligue 1 standings and sees Varane as a potential high-quality addition to bolster their defense.

Marseille’s interest in defensive reinforcements extends to Napoli’s Leo Ostigard, who has been impressive in Serie A. Gattuso’s side is reportedly considering the 24-year-old Norwegian as another option for their backline.

While Varane has featured eight times in the Premier League for Manchester United this season, scoring once against Wolverhampton Wanderers in August, it is reported that he is inclined to stay at Old Trafford beyond the January window. His contract with Manchester United is set to expire in 2024-25, giving the Red Devils no urgent need to offload him.

Despite not starting in the recent Premier League loss to Newcastle United, Varane is determined to win back the trust of manager Erik ten Hag and secure a regular spot in the starting lineup. With upcoming fixtures against Chelsea and Bournemouth, Varane might have an opportunity to showcase his capabilities and reaffirm his role in the team.
