“He is coming for sure!” – Arsenal’s top transfer priority now spotted with Director Edu and Ian Wright amid reports Arsenal have made him their No.1 target; Deal all concluded!
Arsenal have made Declan Rice their No.1 transfer target this summer as Mikel Arteta aims to improve his midfield department.
The Gunners are keen to sign the England international after failing with a January swoop for Moises Caicedo.
Rice has already admitted that he would love to play in the Champions League and win trophies as he aims to further his career, telling the Guardian: “100% I want to play in the Champions League. For the last two or three years I’ve been saying that.
Now, Arsenal fans will surely begin to speculate even more after footage emerged of him with Ian Wright.
WHAT’S THE STORY?
Well, Wright is one of the most popular figures in football, and holds very strong relationships with Arsenal stars such as Bukayo Saka.
Now, the 59-year-old has been seen laughing alongside Rice at St George’s Park as England begin their preparations for the EURO 2024 qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine.
Clearly, the West Ham No.41 gets on well with the pair, and it wouldn’t surprise us if Arteta has asked the Arsenal No.7 to convince his fellow England international over a move to the Emirates Stadium.
In our view, all signs point to Rice joining Arsenal this summer.
The 24-year-old is likely to be sold by West Ham as he enters the final 12 months of his contract, and a move to Arsenal would allow him to remain living in London, close to his family.
Furthermore, the Gunners can offer him what he wants in terms of playing Champions League football and competing for trophies.
The Times believe West Ham will demand £80m for their captain – who Arsenal have earmarked as their No.1 target – which also shouldn’t be an issue.
Arsenal bid £70m for Caicedo in January – during a window where Rice was off the market – so they have clearly set aside a large amount of money to sign a new midfielder.
With all of the above taken into consideration, we would be very surprised if Rice doesn’t end up at Arsenal.
