“How do you expect him to deliver you plenty goals when you’re not using him in the right position?”- Former England player Danny Murphy has blasted Mikel Arteta for wasting the talent of Arsenal’s brilliant superstar by playing him in a very wrong position on the pitch

“How do you expect him to deliver you plenty goals when you’re not using him in the right position?”- Former England footballer Danny Murphy has slammed Mikel Arteta for wasting Arsenal’s magnificent superstar’s skills by playing him in the wrong place on the field.

‘I’m surprised,’ says Danny Murphy, who is surprised Arsenal hasn’t deployed their £45 million winger more.

Arsenal’s present attacking options are fantastic, but when battling on all four fronts, depth and rotation are essential.

We have a lot of good things to say about Mikel Arteta, but he hasn’t done a great job of rotating his side over the last year, and there are genuine concerns about fatigue for players like Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

The amount of time some of these guys have spent on the field is mind-boggling, and Danny Murphy is surprised there hasn’t been more rotation out wide.

Indeed, Murphy claimed on Five that he is actually surprised that Gabriel Jesus hasn’t played more games on the right wing for Arsenal, arguing that he did it effectively for Manchester City and that it would offer Saka some much-needed break.

Murphy was taken aback. Jesus hasn’t played wide in a long time.

The expert weighed in on Arsenal’s rotation and the £45 million striker playing on the wing.

“You have Trossard, Martinelli, and Saka on your team, and Jesus can play wide.” He did so well for City in big games and on huge occasions. “Last season, I was surprised that Jesus didn’t play more on the right side to give Saka a break because he was playing every single minute of all of these games,” Murphy remarked.

We completely appreciate Murphy’s point here, but we also understand why Mikel Arteta wouldn’t want to remove Saka at all.

The 22-year-old is perhaps Arsenal’s most important player, and in the midst of a title chase, you can’t afford to leave a guy like this out of the group.

Rotation is crucial, especially with young players, but if Arteta implements such a plan and it costs the Gunners points, the Arsenal manager will have some serious questions to answer.
