He wanted to join Arsenal last summer but I blocked the deal now He is begging me to let Him join Arsenal again’: Aston villa boss Unai Emery confessed His favorite player in the team is set to join Arsenal in January after having one on one talk with Him

Arsenal was extremely active in January of last year, and it appears that they may do so again this winter.

Indeed, the Gunners have been connected with a new striker in the form of Ivan Toney, and it now appears that a new midfielder is also on the cards.

Arsenal’s top January transfer target, according to Fabrizio Romano, is Douglas Luiz, and the Gunners aren’t taking any chances.

According to Football Transfers, the Gunners have already made their first move to get Luiz to the club, with the north London club asking Aston Villa what it would take to bring the £15 million midfielder to the Emirates midway through the season.

As you might expect, Aston Villa are hesitant to move one of their greatest assets midway through a season in which a top-four push appears to be a real possibility, and landing the Brazilian at this point would almost certainly need a massive amount.

However, as Arsenal have demonstrated over the last 12 months, if a player is absolutely needed, they are willing to spend the money.

However, after spending over £200 million in the summer and scouring the market for a new striker, it’s difficult to conceive that they will have the resources to push Villa’s hand here.

Of course, Arsenal has already surprised us in the transfer market, so don’t rule it out, but Unai Emery will not want to do his former club any favors by moving Luiz to a team that is rapidly being viewed as a direct rival.

Arsenal appears to be interested in Luiz, but whether or not they are successful remains to be seen.
