“He was so impressive today against Spurs, he gave them a very tough time and was clearly Arsenal’s best player on the pitch”- Top Skysports pundit Micheal Owen was full of praise for Arsenal’s dynamic superstar who played his best match for Arsenal today despite not winning- Not Saka, Not Jesus and Not Odegard

Michael Owen hailed David Raya’s performance between the posts as Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur played out an exciting 2-2 draw at the Emirates.

Typically, you want your goalkeepers to be quiet, with little focus on them, and to be hardly heard, because that way you know they’re doing a fantastic job.

But not for David Raya, who was in the public spotlight before the ball was kicked because of Mikel Arteta’s call last week to drop Aaron Ramsdale between Arsenal’s sticks.

Well, the on-loan Brentford goalie was right in the midst of the action against Tottenham, with Michael Owen claiming a ‘great’ game, as he told Premier League Productions.

David Raya made a fantastic point-blank stop in the first half to deny Brennan Johnson a clear chance to score, while Aaron Ramsdale applauded from the bench.

The Spanish star had a lot of very nice moments during the game, as the two clubs played out a typically entertaining north London derby.

“To be fair, Raya, he had a brilliant game,” Owen added. “He’s made some fantastic saves – that was a fantastic save (from Johnson).” As I already stated, he has already made a few good saves.”

Arsenal’s new number one is David Raya.
Mikel Arteta is clearly going to push his summer signing as his new number one right now.

When Ramsdale first entered the building, he pushed out Bernd Leno, who didn’t do much wrong at the moment.

But that’s the nature of football, as Ramsdale has now experienced both ends of the spectrum.
