‘You need to get him far away from the club, I’m totally disappointed cause now I know why the fans were calling for His head, He’s nowhere near professional player’: Gary Neville slams ‘appalling’ Arsenal player v Newcastle yesterday who offered nothing and played against them instead
After Arsenal were defeated by Newcastle United today, Gary Neville slammed Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard.
The Gunners were unable to break down a tenacious home defense, and a goal from Antony Gordon sealed the game in Eddie Howe’s favor.
Arsenal had another disappointing day as some of their squad inadequacies were on display, particularly in the final third.
Arsenal finished the game with Leandro Trossard playing as a forward, highlighting the club’s choice not to recruit a striker.
Trossard, on the other hand, provided little, and when he failed to beat the first man on a third corner in a row for Arsenal, Gary Neville was just not interested.
Leandro Trossard is called ‘appalling’ by Neville.
Neville was enraged by what he was seeing from Trossard on Sky commentary. On his corners, the former Brighton player couldn’t get the ball past the first man, and Neville was not impressed.
“So bad from Trossard, appalling not to get it over the first man, that is three times,” Neville went on to say.
Signing fee of £27 million Trossard had previously received high accolades for his contributions at Arsenal, but tonight was not his night.
The Belgian will be looking for much better results in the coming weeks, both in terms of his set piece and overall performance.
With Manchester City winning 6-1, this feels like a significant step back for Arsenal, which Mikel Arteta will need to confront.
Newcastle are, of course, a good team that performed well in the end.
But Arsenal must improve, and their substitutes must contribute more. So, a striker in January appears to be a must right now.
