JUST IN: Arteta confirms another double injury setback for Arsenal, with crucial players out for four weeks in the midst of a fierce EPL title race.

Thomas Partey was not included in Arsenal’s squad that defeated Sevilla on Tuesday night, while Jesus went out in the dying stages with what appeared to be a hamstring injury, making him a doubt for tomorrow’s game against struggling Sheffield United.

Arteta disclosed in today’s press conference that Partey suffered a muscular problem with the last kick of the ball in training prior to the Sevilla game.

When asked for an update on the Arsenal No.9, Mikel Arteta said, ‘The scan revealed a muscular problem, and we may be without him for a few weeks again.’

Due to the setback, the Ghana international was not included in the matchday roster for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Sevilla.

The club does not know the degree of the injury, according to the Spanish strategist, but he is expected to be out for at least a few weeks. More scans will be performed on him today.

“He’s got a muscle injury, and we expect him to be out for a few weeks,” he revealed live on Arsenal.com. We don’t know how serious it is; he’ll get more scans today. He started training with the final kick of the ball.”

PARTEY’S INJURY COSTS THE GUNNERS.

Partey was an uncontested starter at the start of the season, but he suffered a groin injury in the days leading up to the Manchester United game. He just made his return against Manchester City.

After missing the Chelsea draw, it was expected that he would be able to return to the starting lineup in Seville, but he has regrettably acquired another injury that will keep him out for some time.

The revelation is a big setback for the Gunners in the future. Declan Rice has recently featured in a creative central midfield role, with Jorginho requested to play at number six.

The Italian has been consistent in his delivery, but he has a habit of losing possession in unexpected situations. This is something Partey does rarely in the same position.

It’s unclear how long the €35 million-rated star will be out. Arsenal cannot afford to lose him for several months. It may persuade them to invest in another defensive midfielder.

Arsenal will most likely be without Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey until after the international break in November.
